A Look at Our 1st Six Weeks

It is unbelievable, how fast the time has gone by, and it is already October!

During the last month, the library has been a very busy place.

Here is what our students have been up to:

5th, 4th and 3rd grades had an overview of fiction and non-fiction, each grade, according to their level. We have explored our library’s different sections. We are mastering the navigation of our online library catalog, which is helping us find the very books we want to read (we are even learning, how to filter out the books that will help us score the points to meet our reading goals).

2nd, 1st grades and Kindergarten had learned how to care for books. They also discovered the terms for the parts of the book, including a book’s call number – it’s “address”, that is unique to it. Our terms became more complex with each grade level.

Prekindergarten has been busy meeting their new favorite book characters – Pete the Cat and the Cat in the Hat. They have refreshed their knowledge of colors, numbers and shapes, while learning how to overcome their beginning-of-the-year school worries.

As part of our Choose Love program, we have talked about courage and what it means. We reminded each other, that sometimes even little things require courage on our part. We also have practiced our “brave breaths”.

We are looking forward to meeting your families at our fall activities!

Thank you to all who had stopped by our Pumpkin Emoji decorating booth during the Overton ISD Fall Fest!
